the things i get myself into

Do you ever have an experience where you can clearly see God working and helping you through a situation? I definitely had one of those yesterday.

So I decided to go to a friend's place for a sleepover, and she lives on the other side of Toronto. I tell my mom minutes after getting off the phone and start frantically running around my house getting ready. We drive to the go station and I had no money on me, so mom graciously pays for my return ticket. It wasn't until I got on the train that I realized how crazy this whole situation was.
First off, you can never hear me when you call my cell, and I dropped it earlier that day so the screen was shot. Second, I had a total of 12 cents on me, and my bank account savings added up to about $16, so I couldn't withdraw anything from an atm machine. I had to take a subway line and didn't have money to buy a token! So, I had no way of contacting my friend to pick me up, I had no money to get on the subway, and I didn't really know how I was getting to my destination.
BUT, I did have my notebook, Bible, and a pen! God received a desperate plea that day to assist a helpless girl. To tell you the truth, it actually felt really cool to not know anything and have to completely rely on God! Anyway, I get to Union station and go down to the subway area. I was planning on asking the guy at the ticket booth if I could buy a $2 token with my debit (i'm sure that would have gone well..) but I figured I'd ask the lady in front of me first. I explained my situation to her, and she whipped out an extra subway token for me to use! Then, she said: "I don't know why I'm even in line, I have a token.." so we went down to the waiting area together - I've concluded that she must have been an angel sent from God. Why else would she have been in line, practically waiting for me to ask her that question?
Anyway, I was happy to have gotten on the subway, until I realized that I didn't contact my friend and now we were underground which means no service. I was planning on waiting and mooching a phone off of someone at the stop, but all of a sudden there was a clearing and the train wasn't underground anymore! I decided I'd try to use my messed up cell, and didn't expect anything to happen, but IT WORKED! Amazingly, she answered and heard me and they got there on time and it was just awesome.

I love how God shows His power, and that He never gives us more than we can bear! I feel like He was showing off just a little, how in control He is of every situation. :)

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." - zephaniah 3:17
